Blyvoor, which incorporates Doornfontein mine, has underground and surface operations and is situated near Carletonville some 70km south-west of Johannesburg.
Crown is the world's largest surface retreatment facility, reprocessing the large and numerous sand and slimes dumps along the reefs that stretch from east to west just to the south of Johannesburg's central business district.
Ergo and ErgoGold: the Ergo Joint Venture between DRDGOLD SA and Mintails South Africa was established in 2007 to exploit up to 1.7 billion tonnes of surface tailings of gold, uranium and sulphuric acid.
ERPM is situated on the Witwatersran Basin near the town of Boksburg, 25km to the east of Johannesburg. Underground mining was suspended in October 2008 following the cessation of the pumping of underground water for safety reasons.
